Someone I Knew is intended to help you look for someone you genuinely knew and have since lost touch with.

• Finding someone who has asked you to leave them alone.
• Monitoring, following or building a picture of someone’s life.
• Contacting someone on behalf of anyone else, or under a false identity.
• Harassment, intimidation, debt collection, or anything unlawful.
• Screening people for work, tenancy, credit or insurance.
• Using the service to obtain or assemble private or sensitive information about another person.

We may restrict or close an account that is used in a way that conflicts with these terms, the safety of others or applicable law.

We use publicly available information and evidence to help identify possible matches. Results may be incomplete, outdated or wrong, and different people can share the same name, location, employer or other characteristics.

You must make your own decision about whether a result is the person you remember. Do not treat a result from Someone I Knew as verified fact about that person.

You must be 18 or older to use Someone I Knew.

Do not use the service to search for children or anyone under 18.

Someone I Knew is currently in beta. Features may change, searches may not return a useful result, and parts of the service may occasionally be unavailable while we improve it.

We can’t promise that a person will be found, or that the service will always be available or free of errors.

You must use the service lawfully and respectfully. You must not use Someone I Knew for harassment, stalking, surveillance, debt collection, employment screening, tenancy screening, credit assessment, insurance assessment or any other purpose that could materially affect another person.

You are responsible for the information you enter, including memories, answers and feedback. Only submit information you have a legitimate reason to use for genuinely reconnecting with someone you knew.

Results may point to information published by other websites. That information remains subject to the rights and terms of whoever published it. Someone I Knew does not claim ownership of third-party public information.

Keep your account credentials secure and do not allow another person to use your account. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

You can delete your account through Account settings.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Nothing in this section limits any right you may have to bring a claim where you live.
